I fell in love with the word EPOQUE, which means a period of high artistic or cultural development. I honour the past by preserving garments from around the world, while inspiring others by showcasing beautifully crafted clothing from the previous centuries in the present. By offering vintage pieces, I encourage people to recycle and reuse for our future, illustrating that the world is already filled with stunning garments. You don’t need to contribute to the fast fashion market by shopping at chain stores; the beauty of fashion lies in what already exists.
With over 10 years of experience in the vintage industry our curated collection is timeless, exclusive and always changing. A huge mix from the Victorian era to the Iconic 60s & 70s is what you will find on the website and in the showroom. The pieces put together will give you the opportunity to be anyone you want.
The brand name references the early 20th century, a period often referred to as “La Belle Époque,” meaning ‘a beautiful time.’ During this era, costume evolved into fashion, gaining new significance in how people dressed and for whom. Individuals were no longer bound by strict laws and conventions; choices in fabric and style were no longer dictated by social status. Fashion found fresh inspiration in art.
However, looking back, I wouldn’t necessarily label it as a beautiful time. Significant inequalities, particularly for women, persisted, to name just one issue. In my ongoing research into the history of dress, I continue to be amazed by the complexities of humanity. One thing I am certain of is this: with Epoque, I strive to make our time on earth a little more of a true “La Belle Époque.”
Love,
Immanuela
